The world is tired, it's shaking its head,

It needs a big comfy blanket and a hug before bed.

It's weary from fighting and growing cranky,

From world events and people so skanky.

We need a good break to let down our hair,

Whatever is left, and what we can spare.

As we come to the new year's threshold gate,

We can still find good reason to celebrate.

Good health and our families can not be forgotten,

Though the weather is miserable and the economy is rotten.

Friends and family who are by our side,

Though those extra 5 lbs are a bitch to hide.

Knowing that no matter how far we may roam.

We can still return to a place we call "home".

Awakening to freedom from shore to shore,

The certainty of this, and so much more.

This year more than ever has given us pause,

To count our blessings is this party's cause.

We can see out the old and welcome the new,

On December 15th, we hope to see you.
